MARCH 2008
Porky is captured at last! Goose Valley's resident Bush Pig has finally been captured. After enjoying roaming the Fynbos for a few months and dining on delicious bulbs from Goose Valley's extensive range of delectable plants, Porky was finally caught steeling fruit from a trap set to capture him. He has been captured before, but his immense strength resulted in him tearing the wire of the cage apart. Not to be outdone, Goose Valley's staff welded a strong steel cage together and this managed to hold Porky until local Veterinarian, Brendan Tindall, from Robberg Veterinary Hospital, was able to dart Porky. Porky was transported to the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve where he now forages to his heart's content. The images show the darting, Porky enjoying his sleep prior to being transported, and with General Manager Errol Walsh, Dr Brendan Tindall and one of the Security Guards who helped as a stretcher bearer. New Rental & Sales office opens at Goose Valley Golf Club Chas Everitt has been awarded the tender to operate the Goose Valley on-site Rental & Sales office adjacent to the tennis courts and next to the Club House from 1 April 2008. John Fuller, Principal of Chas Everitt says "the office will do both holiday rentals and property sales and will introduce a professional rental software system to manage bookings. For the first time, Goose Valley properties will be marketed through extensive award winning websites to local and international markets, print media advertising, and through tour operators and golf courses throughout South Africa and in Europe. A specific focus will be placed on marketing Goose Valley as a desirable destination".
Chas Everitt will offer a rental and home management service to its clients on an exclusive basis and John says that clients will enjoy enhanced rental income plus proper financial reporting. In the past, rentals at Goose Valley have been handled on a reactive basis where the rental companies have mainly performed the role of collection agent. The on-site office will also incorporate a mini business centre, offering residents an Internet Cafe and copy and fax facilities. Amanda Smit, Chas Everitt's resident Goose Valley Specialist Realtor, will mange the new Goose Valley office. Her on-site presence will ensure an even better service to clients.
Amanda looks forward to the challenge of building the new rental business at Goose Valley and meeting all owners and rental clients and providing them with top quality service. She will focus on property sales and holiday & long-term rentals at Goose Valley, Turtle Creek, Fairway Close & The Tides.
MAY 2008
Compleat Golfer in their May edition once again improved Goose Valley's golf course ranking, moving the course up to place number 40 in South Africa. This is a tremendous achievement and is the third year that the course has climbed the rankings, despite the continual inclusion of the large super courses into the rankings. The Goose Valley Golf Club staff are continuing to improve the course and the seventeenth tee has just been moved back, enabling the Club to turn this relatively easy hole into a real test and no doubt take the course rating from 71 to a clear 72. In addition, other areas attended to, have been the improvement of rebuilding tee boxes, steps up to tee boxes, benches on every tee, and improving the sand in the bunkers.
Semi-gration? Semi-gration is the new word coined for people choosing to emigrate within their own country and according to estate Agents and John Loos, the FNB Property Economist, one of the key semi-gration areas is the Garden Route.
