GENERAL INFO
The Goose Valley Golf Course is situated in pristine surroundings, only 2km from
Plettenberg Bay and bordering on the Keurbooms Lagoon. Golfers playing this
magnificent Gary Player designed 72 par, 18 hole golf course in the heart of the
Garden Route will experience breathtaking views of the lagoon, the ocean and the
Tsitsikamma Mountains. The golfing experience is enhanced by the beauty of the
natural fynbos and the abundance of animal and birdlife around the course. The
course boasts a superb Driving Range and practice, chipping and putting
facilities.
The course is surrounded by indigenous Fynbos which is home to small buck,
tortoises and spectacular bird life. There must be very few courses, if any,
elsewhere in the world where one can play golf and simultaneously watch whales
breaching in the sea.
Goose Valley Golf Club
welcomes visitors and has become extremely popular with tourists who enjoy the
relaxed family atmosphere of the Club.
Many
visitors choose to live on the course by renting self-catering accommodation
from a choice of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom condominiums.
The Club has members and visitors change rooms, a
well stocked and professionally managed Pro Shop, golf cart hire, equipment
rentals, a full driving range with all golf practice facilities, the Restaurant
and halfway house facilities. There is a squash court and two tennis courts.

Goose Valley received a Gold Status Award in Compleat
Golfer's May 2008 list of "Top 50" South African Golf Courses, moving
one place up to number 40.

Golf Digest
In the October 2006
edition of Golf Digest, Terry McLean, Golf Digest's Editor, in an article about
the new Pinnacle Point Golf Club in the Southern Cape, wrote that "the golf
course that impressed us most was Goose Valley!"
Compleat Golfer
In the November 2006
edition of Complete Golfer, John Botha, Senior Golf Writer, wrote a glowing
report on Goose Valley, which he called The Pride Of Plettenberg Bay. In his
article, John said that "Goose Valley is one of the best conditioned golf courses
in the Southern Cape". He goes on to say " it is a must play golf course"
and completes his course of the month article by saying that "Goose Valley is
the best value for money golf course anywhere! "
Goose Valley is also the ideal base for visitors to enjoy many of the other
spectacular golf courses on the Garden Route, which is fast assuming the mantle
of the "Algarve of the Southern Hemisphere".
Originally a nine-holer
The course was originally a nine-holer
from 1996 to 2002, where after it was extended to eighteen holes with the
incorporation of the Turtle Creek land. The course also received rave reviews

The environmentalists....
Because of the sensitivity
regarding the environment Goose valley got bad press at launch. Today the
environmentalists have publicly stated that "Goose Valley sets the standard
for all future coastal developments". Their approval has been given for the
construction of the second nine holes.
The "Smart Investor" backs Goose
Valley....
A 2001 issue of the Smart
Investor Magazine named Plettenberg Bay as the premier holiday resort town in
South Africa. Discussing investment in coastal resorts and the huge increases in
property prices, they went on to say "So is the Garden Route a game for the
rich? Fortunately not. There are places in Plettenberg Bay, which offer,
excellent but unrealised value. Look for them. Goose Valley is one, built around
a Gary Player golf course. It got bad press at launch and, maybe as a result,
two bed-roomed apartments, which were priced at less than R400 000 in 1995,
fetch that now". Sorry folks, if you missed the boat! These prices are of course is a
pipe dream now, but it will never be too late to invest in this superb estate,
because no matter what the price it is still by far the best value Golf Estate
in South Africa!!

"I spent a glorious few days at
Goose Valley, a visit which re-emphasised my impression this is faraway the best
nine hole course in South Africa - so long as it is played off the forward tees!
For me Goose Valley's signature hole remains the 425m fifth, the second round as
the 14th. Standing on the tee you look down a broad sweep of green carpeted
kikuyu with tall trees lining the fairway - blue gums to the left; firs to the
right. Reminiscent of Augusta, they stand like sentinels guarding a piece of the
Garden of Eden".
How to get there?
Goose Valley is a secure residential estate and 18 hole golf course situated on
the N2 two kilometers outside Plettenberg Bay in the direction of Port
Elizabeth.
